I’m working in partnership with Communities First in the Neath area to deliver a series of mindfulness through photography workshops. The first is a four week project called Mindful Melin. Gains in individual feelings of self-worth and positivity will come through a series of tasks using the camera. In turn participants view themselves, their habits, and behaviours from a more mindful perspective and as a consequence work towards improving their life goals and sense of well being. Participants are learning that being calm and at peace with yourself is not a matter of place but a matter of perspective. Photographs produced during this workshop can be seen by clicking here. More workshops in the Neath, Port Talbot and Swansea areas will follow soon.
Meanwhile, I am also delivering a series of workshops for Gower Landscape Project called Bringing Gower Home. This exciting project is aimed at people who would not normally visit the Gower. The workshops will encourage a connection with the landscape and celebrate what is personally special about the Gower. The whole project experience is focused upon developing participants’ life skills, particularly self-esteem, through photography. Partnership organisations for this project are from schools and community groups in the Swansea Bay region. You can read more on this project here.
