A while back I mentioned a sketchbook I’ve been working on for the upcoming Sketchorama exhibition at The New Bohemian Gallery in Brainerd, Minnesota. The idea is that international artists get to fill the same sized sketchbooks with whatever tickles their creativity. On display will be both the sketchbooks and selected pages for visitors to peruse.
I’ve been sketching images of my Automata series. It’s a tall order, filling 60 pages and keeping a coherent narrative. I’ve just finished and I’m exhausted. I’m not a natural drawer so it’s been a long slog holding it all together. I’ve tried to be imaginative too with the way the pages flow together.
Here are a few choice pages. You can see the rest in November if you’re in Minnesota. If that’s a bit too far to travel then I’m planning on showing it in the UK sometime in 2017.
