A Personal Look at Seion Newydd

A final photography workshop at Seion Newydd in Morriston with no tasks today. Instead the participants set their own missions with the camera. We considered all the things that they had learned during the last few weeks and thought about how to take it further. Some people look as if they will end up as great landscape photographers whilst others are embracing the spirit of selfies and exploring how to show parts of their personality through photography.

It can be a sad day when a course comes to an end and I have to say goodbye to a class. It seems that just as we’re getting started it finishes. Today was a chance for people to explore their own photographic voice and think about how to map their own photographic futures. Already participants have said they have the confidence to think about going ahead and try other courses. Others realised that this was a photography workshop with a difference quite early on and enjoyed the fact that there was no judgement and no definitive ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ photograph. The technical and scientific sides of photography come with practice and guidance once the interest is established so I’ve always been a firm believer in encouraging personal development through exploration and freedom of expression.

But don’t take my word for it. There’s a testimonials page which I’ll be updating later this week.
