Another day sees another complex layer for Robot in Disguise. This artwork will be assembled using brass taxidermy pins and we’re holding many meetings to decide how best to layer it up to give the biggest impact.
Previous artworks in the Structured Chaos series have been less complex and have been held in the corner with split pins. This simple method worked for whole-cut layers of paper but won’t work for this latest piece since each copy of the source photograph is cut into more fragmented pieces.
With so many pieces it will be like assembling a jigsaw without a set method and in many dimensions. The pins are ultrafine and give all sorts of options for flexibility and creativity leaving the final assemblage far from decided. This Robot in Disguise will transform into an ambitious and unique vision early in the new year…
( … and the Autobots will be vanquished forever.)
