Sometimes it’s better to disengage and create something completely different. I relish opportunities which take me away from my comfort zones and challenge me to create something as a one-off.
I’ve done this on many an occasion throughout my career. I’ve made collages based on poems with aardvarks. I’ve made photography as a response to music. I’ve created mixed media pieces with asphalt and doll parts. I’ve even burned my own paintings for film pieces. All these things are antidotes to the day-to-day routines of project management and art-as-series creation.
I’ve started something new today which falls into this category. It’s an unusual piece I’m working on for the Heath Robinson Museum. I should be in a position to share it with you tomorrow.
