This Friday and Saturday I’m a guest artist at The Creative Bubble where they’re celebrating two years of public access arty shenanigans. I’m joining Fifteen Hundred Lives artists Sylvie Evans, Graham Parker and Rosie Scribblah: Printmaker and Scribbler as well as another lovely guest artist Jacki Phillips
Jacki will be presenting her new interactive piece Not Just A Woolly Hat, building a knitted ‘Memory Wall’ over the two days. Not Just A Woolly Hat has become a consuming passion for Jacki Phillips. She has begun to knit hats in different media other than the traditional wool: the tape from old cassette and videos; favourite items of clothing; bin bags; used carrier bags; copper wire; garden string. Each new medium presents its challenges, heavy materials are physically demanding and restricting while delicate materials require gentle manipulation. I’m an accomplished knitter so it will be hard for me to concentrate on my collage work and resist joining her for a knitting-related chat and birthday cake. She’s inviting people to drop by and share skills, experiences, knowledge and stories while helping her to knit pieces to build a memory wall over the two days.
I will be sharing my methods and techniques for my collages and assemblages. I’ll be there for most of Friday and all of Saturday working on Stare Down, the latest in the collaborative collage series Structured Chaos. The latest series is being created with Ben Honebone who will be dropping by on the Saturday to discuss our collaborative way of working.
Come and celebrate with us. There will be art. There will be artists. There will be BIRTHDAY CAKE!!!! Friday and Saturday 12:30 – 5pm at The Creative Bubble, Cradock St, Swansea
