The Amateur Cartographer

This is the first proper draft of a collaborative project for On The Map which I’m working on with fellow artist Rose Davies. I mentioned this project a few days ago with A Visit to the Vetch. I’m no cartographer but I’m using my collage skills to adapt to the task in hand. Now we’re at the point where the final layout is being put into place. I’m using invisible tape to secure the pieces so that any adjustments can be made quickly and efficiently.

On The Map will feature artists from around the UK to create contemporary maps that are a conceptual adventure challenging our relationship to the environment we pass through. The exhibition will be held in Sunbury-on-Thames in London. Some of the maps are local to Sunbury others are further afield – such as our Swansea map. This is a three fold exhibition including an exhibition, physical walks that anyone can complete and a series of published maps.

The exhibition will run from the 14th April to 10th May with a Private View at the Sunbury Embroidery Gallery on 23rd April.
