I regret nothing. Not ever. Nope. Well maybe I should have bought those Giant African Land Snails from the pet shop back in ’96 but other than that I can’t think of a single thing I’d change.
The past is fixed and has no chance of ever changing. All I can do is look at the experiences I have had and try to make better and more informed choices to shape my future. I try to plan carefully what I’m doing and how I’m living so that I don’t fall into the same traps and pitfalls of the past but I refuse to dwell on them. It is by living in the now that we make the most progress in life.
The beautiful thing about making art is that you always have the option to go back and correct bad decisions. I have complete control as to the shape of the past, present, and future of the my art. I am a creative time traveller working my way across the history of Cochleae and altering what I want. It’s a luxury none of us have in the rest of our lives which is why creating things is so exciting. Any potential regrets can be dealt with at any time.
Be kind and generous to the people you love this Christmas and the rest will follow. Oh and while you’re here could you be so kind as to pass me the glue, I need to alter this right hand edge…
